Embracing all the plurality around us. Breaking up with the establishment. Becoming free.
It’s about dancing, laughing out loud, smiling for no reason, speaking with the eyes. It’s about recognizing a familiar face in the crowd that carries so much personality, and feeling like you know them, even when you don’t.
It’s about not remembering the name. Calling by the wrong name. Creating an alter ego. Not needing a name. We don’t need those silly things. We call ourselves whatever we feel like.
One flag can represent all of us. No matter race, beliefs, gender, identity or sexual orientation.
And when something new comes, we learn, evolve, and so does our flag. We don’t need passports. We have no borders. We can always find each other no matter where we go.
An eye contact while waiting in a line, a casual chat on a night out, or even something more intimate at a friend's house party. We are crusaders, not knowing when we will see each other next or where. Still, we keep crossing paths.
We share similar stories, places of pain and discomfort. We take our time to listen to each other and figure out how to move on.
We don't seek revenge or payback. We reject any hate speech or sentiment that could cause harm to a human being's dignity. In the shape of art, we repurpose and give back to humankind all the pain that once was inflicted on us.
Because love is what brings us together, what keeps us so relatable.
To be queer is to be long to a community.
To be queer is to be kind.
